Fahrzeugbeschreibung
The XJS, perhaps Jaguars’ most talked about design. Now becoming rare.
‘Less than 50k’; enthusiasts of classic cars will know that we are not talking about a limit in euros, but a limit in kilometers. Everyone is looking for young and oldtimers with a mileage under 50k. There are even companies that specialize in this; Switzerland, USA, Japan, everywhere there is a search for these kinds of needles in the haystack. This is an enthusiast’s car, you buy it with your heart instead of your financial brain! A very special enthusiast’s car, with a very special mileage of 24,646 miles. The equivalent is only 39,400 kilometers, and that in 31 years. Sufficient kilometers to keep the car in good condition, limited enough to achieve this ultimate low mileage after 31 years.
Love it or hate it, that’s how it goes with the XJS, or actually with the Jaguar brand in general. Fortunately, because they are becoming scarce, so a large audience only drives up the price, right? They are scarce, especially in this condition. Because where do you find that; pristine, original, from the first owner and most importantly; that special odometer reading. Does that exist? Yes, the Carfax report details the history. Every visit to the Jaguar dealer is recorded. A good mileage is one thing, the substantiation for it is another.
The condition of this unique Jaguar requires little to no explanation. Obviously a ‘hard’ bulkhead, hard sheet metal and hard bottom plate. An untouched interior, it even smells ‘new’. That woodwork; in new condition. The convertible top is still as beautiful beige as it was in 1993. A real collector’s item, that is clear.
So we owe this XJS to its first owner, Mr. Lawson from Colorado. Lawson had cars, many cars. ‘In the past’ I could hardly imagine buying a car and then barely using it. I now know; that’s more easy than you think. For example, we also bought our first Morgan with only 9,000 kilometers on the odometer while it was 12 years old, the history fully known. As the second owner of such a classic, you have something special in your hands, that’s for sure.
Well, enough about the history of this Jaguar. Once the above matters are in order, it is time to look at the cosmetic condition of a classic, which of course also provides the greatest pleasure when it comes to these types of special cars. Because an XJS is so beautiful! The interior simply radiates 1980s, beautiful. 1980s in a very luxurious uniform because wood and beige tones everywhere. Burr walnut wood, a leather-covered steering wheel… beautiful chrome, a wonderful ‘period-correct’ radio with CD player, beautiful!
No disruptions, no strange things. The beautiful and comfortable seats can be adjusted electrically, as can the mirrors. everything works properly. There are no defects, no problems and no downsides. This completes a real classic!
Then the outside. No scratches, no damages. Top condition is putting it mildly. That makes us happy, doesn’t it? Check out that sheet metal, still completely original. The beautiful handmade coachlines in two colors, matching the interior. Headlights in new condition, special for every XJS. I can enjoy endlessly seeing the condition of this XJS. It was not without reason that I immediately decided to buy this special Jaguar. Ready to refine the details, perform maintenance and prepare the XJS for the next true enthusiast.
You may wonder what you can add to such a classic. Believe me; Before you can hit the road confidently and without worries, there is a lot to do and that is precisely where I get the most pleasure from; preparing it down to the last detail for the new owner. For most car companies it ends after approval from the RDW in the form of an MOT and Dutch license plate, for me it only starts there. RDW approved the XJS after adjusting the low beam and adding two reflectors. Soft shock absorbers? No problem for MOT. A slightly sticking brake caliper, also no problem for the Dutch roads according to the test results. But, a Jaguar driver does not go for the minimum. He or she expects quality. Good suspension and damping, no vibrations, no deviations in driving behavior. It is nice to be able to deliver classics under those conditions, the associated costs and effort are only a side issue. After MOT approval, we replaced no fewer than six gas pressure springs for new, adjustable dampers. Braking was tackled. A major overhaul has been carried out. The paintwork has been polished three times. Tiny dents were removed. Nice work!
Now I have seen quite a few Jaguars and Daimlers passing by here. Every now and then you have a car like that and you think; “I want to keep that one!” This Jaguar is one of those. No sales talk, selling a classic is something that is only done by the classic itself. In any case, I’m sold!
Naturally, the Jaguar comes with complete documentation. Service folder, Carfax, manual, NAP report, complete key set including remote control, nothing is missing.
To complete the experience of a Jaguar in almost new condition, I deliver this specific XJS with a warranty; six months or a maximum of 5,000 km.
There is still a lot to say about this Jaguar, but you will of course only get a good impression when you view and drive the car. You are very welcome in Uden, the coffee is ready.
